About me and my therapy practice

My name is Aakansha. I hold an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Supervision Including Online and Telephone Working from Counselling Tutor UK.

I have a passion for helping people. I am understanding, patient, empathetic, friendly and I have good listening skills. Through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, my role is to study how the clients could understand themselves, as well as develop more positive ways of behaving for their benefit. This is done by facilitating them to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts which would in turn help them to feel and act positively. I also use a Person-Centered approach by helping the client to identify their strengths and weaknesses. In addition to the former, I incorporate Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, Spiritual Counselling and Mindfulness based on the client's comfort level during the sessions.

I studied at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 2012. I began my Masters in Guidance and Counselling from James Cook University, Singapore in 2014 and I graduated in October 2016. To further my specialisation, I completed a MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at King's College London in December 2019. I am a Registered Member (MBACP) at the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Graduate Member of British Psychological Society (BPS).

Practice description

Besides providing counselling through my counselling training, I introduced Spiritual Readings. I am Spiritually woke and thus and I am able to connect and read tarot and oracle cards. I am aware that some people want some answers before working on any Mental Health Issues. I am able to pick up on an overall energy of the client’s situation. Some clients get clarity from the Spiritual Reading and work on themselves. Others require additional assistance with counselling. Some prefer only counselling. No one key fits all. It is all about an individual’s comfort level and it would be a pleasure to provide a mix of both or just one based on an individual’s personal situation.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
